You’re here to do BIGGER things in the world.

Is the “invisibility tax” keeping you from getting the recognition and visibility you deserve?

What if the real problem isn’t the problem you think it is?

Look, you’re brilliant
(we hold these truths to be self evident)

A lack of brilliance isn’t why it feels like nobody knows who you are. It’s not why—despite all the effort you’ve put into branding, or marketing or that pretty new sales tactics—you’re not as ‘in-demand’ as you feel you should be. Your branding or marketing or sales tactics or brilliance aren’t the issue.

There are visibility biases— and an “Invisibility Tax”— that are keeping you from getting the opportunities you deserve and making the impact you’re here to create!

Folks have never been less equipped to pay attention to you and your work.

According to the data, folks now need an average of 31 touchpoints before they’re really willing to buy into anything. 31. And that’s not even the bad news. The bad news?

If you’re part of an underrecognized group, you’re taking a huge hit to your visibility.  And if you’re reading this, you already know deep down if this applies to you.  Some studies show as high as 33% for some of us, but in my personal experience (and probably your own experiences, too) this can be even higher!

What if you’re “invisible”-- just because of who you are?

Before you think, this doesn’t apply to me… have you ever experienced…

→ Being overlooked, not even considered, for opportunities or positions you know you were qualified for

→ Feeling like no one in the room even noticed you were there, much less asked for your expertise or input

→ Being told “we just don’t see leadership for you” or “this just isn’t the right fit”

→ Watching others share the same ideas you shared, and shaking your head at the easy recognition they get for those ideas

→ Doing ten times as much work, investing ten times as much energy, but still not being recognized

→ Stuck in situations that “look” like a promotion or position of power but without the respect and tools to succeed in the position (while being expected to just be “thankful” for the opportunity)

You’re fighting against things like the Ambition Penalty, Validation Paradox, Goodwill Deductible, Reciprocity Privilege and so much more that you may not have even been consciously aware of!

TL;DR Imagine what changes when everything you’re doing to draw attention to your work actually... works!

We like where your head’s at.

Now, let’s get you some answers.

*yeah, like the movie

Reciprocity release: All kidding aside, reciprocity is a real concern for underrecognized folks. As I shared in a recent podcast, reciprocity is a privilege and it, like visibility, doesn’t work the same for us. So, when I do something at no charge, I ensure I am adequately compensated in other ways. In the case of the Visibility Clinics, hearing your questions allows me to suss out new visibility biases and new dimensions of the Invisibility Tax.
