intelligent by design.

The Visibility Engineering™ methodology is a proprietary process supported by a series of carefully constructed analyses. Together, they have been designed to make you impossible to ignore. We leverage a dedicated set of tools and analyses for each of the nine accelerators of the method. The Catalyst Program covers these essential, cardinal four:

  1. Frame your Intel—pinpointing what matters most to your intended audience, including important stakeholders you may not even know about, so you can frame what you do in the best possible light.

  2. Find your Distinction—giving your stakeholders an obvious reason to pick you, your work or your perspective

  3. Blueprint your Communication—establishing what each of your stakeholders need to hear at all the various points of your relationship with them.

  4. Engineer your Endorsement—making sure your network is set up to amplify your ideas and change behavior

works best when...

+ you've validated your big, world changing idea. either with clients, with research or practice

+ you have gotten your approach and perspective out there. there is a body of work. it just isn't as big a deal as it should be.

+ your point of view is clear and somewhat established. you already understand your stakeholders well enough to know or intuit some of their goals if asked.

+ when you’re given permission to acknowledge your past wins (go ahead!) you see there’s momentum or at least traction to leverage.

Month 1: Find your Stakeholders

In order to get many more of the right people to connect with, notice and commit to your work and ideas, you first need to assess the motivational landscape you’re dealing with. Your palette of stakeholders embodies that motivational landscape.

Together, we’ll identify the folks who have a stake in your venture, the thing you are trying to succeed in. Including the ones our biases prevent us from noticing right away. Relevant tools, frameworks or analyses include:

  • The Stakeholder Spectrums—a stakeholder analysis framework designed to peek past our cognitive blindspots while also circumnavigating the assumptions and leaps in logic of demographic and psychographic profiling.

Month 2: Uncover What Matters to Them

We’ll assess what matters most to your intended audience, so you can frame what you do in the best possible light. Relevant tools, frameworks or analyses include:

  • The Matters Most Analysis—Leverage behavioral science to assess what facet of your work, brand or product will matter most to each stakeholder no matter the context (yes, that includes recessions and pandemics).

Month 3: Pinpoint your Distinction

Identify what actually ties your work, perspective or approach to what your stakeholders want. Relevant tools, frameworks or analyses include:

  • The Mental Model Map—a literal map of how your protagonists see the world. So we can plot out where and how to make an appearance.

Month 4: Articulate your n-Factor

In order attract the invitations you want and activate the allies you’ll need to build a movement or power your influence, you need to give people an obvious reason to pick you and your ideas. Relevant tools, frameworks or analyses include:

  • The Notability Factor—people’s obvious reason to pick you, made externally legible.

Month 5: What your Stakeholders Need to Hear, and When

Managing multiple stakeholders is a balancing act. Not only do you need to understand what they need to hear from you as their relationship with your work deepens, but you need to understand how what they need to hear needs to shift as the context around them does. And if that weren’t enough, this looks different for each of your stakeholders.

Together, we’ll establish a dynamic set of communication formulas. These are not mad libs or fill in the blank scripts. This is a system that takes what your stakeholders want, how they want it and all the drivers that make that so and equips you (and your team/ collaborators) to communicate in light of that.

  • The Communication Formulas— a dynamic communication GPS

Month 6: Establish and Expand your Network, then Build Buy in

There are certain stages and certain rooms you need to be in to get to your next level—whatever that happens to be. Access to those stages and room sit in your Circle of Recognition.

I’ll teach you an easy to follow, lightweight and incredibly flexible routine that will both expand your network to include everyone you need in your corner and equip you to get buy-in from that network. Relevant tools, frameworks or analyses include:

  • Power Analysis—approaches to expanding your Circle of Recognition can’t be one size fits all, especially when there are power differentials to consider. This analysis acts as a discerning lens, so you can both accurately measure power distance and also chose corresponding approaches to building buy in.

how it works

01. diagnostic
we'll assess the status of your Ecosystem of Influence with a diagnostic.

02. context
a context mapping session where we review your diagnostic, confirm your goals and map out a preliminary programmatic calendar

03. deep dives
we'll work together on the most substantial analyses, to give you the best possible starting point for the asynchronous portion of the program.

04. analyses
you'll review the Pre-Recorded, interactive guidance and materials that will walk you through the remaining analyses. the director will be on call to answer any and all questions.

05. working sessions
we'll wrap up each phase with a working session, destilling the current phase and setting us up for the next, so you never have to worry about keeping on track.

06. implementation
we'll review the processes codified in your Visibilty HQ and ensure you're set up to implement them to expand your sphere of influence, raise your profile and get (more) noticed.

right for you if…

this particular formulation is perfect for you if
white origami.gif

+ you’re tired of hearing, "I don't know why you aren't a bigger deal!"

+ excitement and goodwill haven't necessarily led to actual changes in behavior (buy now, vote here, donate today!)

+ you’ve literally done all the things. wrote the (award winning) book, did the Ted talk, hired the agency, and yet...

+ you already know the founder's charisma alone isn't a sustainable, winning strategy.

+ your ultimate ambition includes shifting social norms for the social good.

+ you've got a pretty good handle on or understanding of your corner of the world--be it your industry, sector or overarching bodies, instruments and mechanisms.
